Here is a recently completed project on the Crown & Badger in Tauranga’s CBD district. This building had been plagued with various issues such as hidden downpipes encased in concrete pillars, low pitch, and zero roof cavity, meaning no insulation was installed.
We rectified these issues by simplifying the internal gutter to have standard downpipes, replaced the roof with a new Multidek clip-on system and raised the height of the roof to 90MM to give a cavity space that could be insulated for the client. And we managed all of this without a plastic scaffold wrap!
Scope of Work
For this project, we arrived on site and completed our pre-start paperwork, and organised a crane up of the materials from the road to the roof, keeping our job site footprint to just the roof, essential for one of Tauranga’s busiest eat streets.
We removed sections of the roof day by day, installing new purlins into the saking, insulating the new cavity and performing some extensive rust treatment to the bed of the steel gutter, with altex Rustbond PS.
We installed a new Multidek roofing iron to our new purlins and installed a new drop-in gutter over the steel frame bed. We then cut and folded me parapet cap flashings and arons to tie it all together.
This profile sports a hidden fixing system, perfect for low-pitch roofs as it removes the top fix screw system. between this and out guttering being a whopping 90MM deeper, and a simplified, easily cleaned downpipe system, this building can now withstand the heaviest of rainfall for the wet seasons ahead.
